The ability for a forensic accountant to quickly review the completeness of a discovery response in a litigation case can be crucial in uncovering hidden assets or expenses. For example, if you receive bank statements and credit card statements, it is important to match up the payments from the banks with the credit card statements. If you have a payment on a credit card statement you cannot account for, you are missing a bank account. Conversely, if you have a payment on the bank statement you cannot account for, you are missing a credit card account. Simple analyses like this can often yield big results. Don’t wait until the discovery clock runs out!
